The City Where I Live: Dubai

The Burj Khalifa – The world’s tallest building at 2,722 ft (829.8 m)

I wanted to make my blogging a habit most especially that the summer season is approaching and we don’t have lots of workload. So, I’m going to spend some of my down time writing about some other stuff aside from the books that I’ve read. So while I still don’t know what I really want to write about I’m going to show you around (or tell you more about) the city where I currently live, which is Dubai.

Contrary to popular belief, Dubai is not the capital of the United Arab Emirates, (it’s Abu Dhabi by the way) but it is indeed the nation’s most popular city due to its unique construction projects, tourist attractions, shopping malls, and sporting events.

When I was a kid, I’ve heard of people going overseas to work in different countries like Hong Kong, USA, Canada, UK, and Saudi Arabia, but never have I heard of Dubai. I didn’t even know that it was just a city and not a country of its own. When my Mom told me that she was going to Dubai to work that was the only time that my interest about the city sparked and wanted to know more about the place.

But fast forward to 2016, Dubai has gone a long way from obscurity to fame. It’s a city of cultural diversity; blending the past and the future; boasting of its amazing sky scrapers, vast deserts, historical neighborhoods, and parks, which caters both to locals, tourists, and expats.

This is just an introduction of what I’ll show you so just stay tuned and hopefully I don’t end up procrastinating on this one.
