Groosham Grange by Anthony Horowitz

Three problem kids, David, Jill, and Jeffrey are all on their way to their new school – Groosham Grange, after being expelled from their previous ones. It was supposed to toughen them, make them model students, and shape them to become the professionals that their parents have hoped for.

Little did they know that their new school was not as it promised in their letters. Strange teachers who disappear when the moon is full, their names written with their own blood, and classes in Latin. Frightening experiences lead the children to plot their escape, but will they make it out alive?

Groosham Grange allows us to see magic in a different light. Unlike the happy and exciting feel we got from Harry Potter, Groosham showed its darker side where your choice is either death (to your current life) or death.
