When we were kids, we wanted to grow up real fast so that we can have the same privileges that grown ups had; eating unlimited amount of chocolate, staying up late, having money… but now that we’re adults, and finally had a taste of reality, we somehow wish to go back to the days when life was so simple and we had absolutely no care in the world.
Life is not always easy, and just when you thought that everything’s smooth sailing, the storm comes.
But what exactly do we do when trial comes? Do we hide under our beds, cower in fear, and just give up with life?
- Look at our trials as character builders – we have heard countless songs about people getting hurt by someone or a situation, but after going through “scorching fire” they ended up being refined and stronger than before. I think anyone who had challenges in their lives will agree with me that the giant that they faced before doesn’t seem so big now that they’ve overcome it. I remember one verse which goes like this “…but we also rejoice in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
- Encourage people who are going through tough times – those who have overcome really difficult situations are the best source of encouragement for those who are experiencing challenges in their lives. But even if you haven’t had severe trials in the past, your words of genuine compassion and comfort brings life to those who are hurting. We all have troubles of our own but “a friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
Personally, I think the best way to endure hardship is through prayer. When we run to the Almighty Father something supernatural takes place and we are strengthened to endure tough times.
If you’re going through difficulties and feel like giving up, don’t isolate yourself. Surround yourself with people who can encourage you and help you carry the load on your shoulders, pray, and take heart. Because there’s no challenge that’s too difficult for us to handle.
